Psychology: The Power In You Project has a psychologist who works onsite. Appointments are available to all our clients, with referrals. Those supported by the NDIS will have appointments available in line with their NDIS Support Plan. For those without NDIS, the assistance of a Mental Health Care Plan will reduce out-of-pocket expenses. Those on a Mental Health Care Plan will be required to pay $120 per session, upfront, they can then gain approximately $94 of this back through Medicare. The current waiting period for service is 1-2 weeks.

Peer Support Workers: The Power In You Project has Peer Support Workers with their own lived experiences with addiction, mental health and the justice system. Using their own experiences, our workers are able to help guide people to their own journey through a holistic approach, considering physical, mental and emotional health.

Meal Preparation: The Power In You Project offers two nights of meal preparation groups. Within this group, we teach practical cooking skills such as how to prepare healthy and nutritious meals on a small budget and how to make the most of leftovers. Clients are taught to understand and identify product ingredients and to make comparisons between product brands.

Women’s Group: The Power In You Project provides a safe place, especially for women who are feeling vulnerable, once a week. Women are able to share their experiences in a non-judgmental and nurturing environment in which self-worth and empowerment are encouraged.  Guest speakers are periodically invited to the group to speak about topics such as family violence, nutrition, employment and practical independent living skills.

Men’s Circle: The Power in You Project provides an open and safe place for men to discuss their experiences of being a man, and how expectations from society can shape how men may view the world. Each week Men’s Circle have discussions based on topics such as self-esteem and anger management.
